Prepare Before You Enter

Before you can even access the DLC, you must have defeated both Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood in the base game. It's recommended that your character be at least level 120, with fully upgraded weapons. The enemies in the Land of Shadow hit hard, and you'll need every advantage you can get.

Embrace the New Weapon Types

Shadow of the Erdtree introduces several new weapon categories, including Beast Claws and Throwing Blades. Experiment with these early on. They offer unique movesets that can be highly effective against the DLC's new enemy types. Don't be afraid to switch from your tried-and-true build; adaptability is key to survival here.

Scadu Tree Fragments are Essential

The DLC has its own leveling system separate from your character's runes. As you explore, you'll find Scadu Tree Fragments. These items can be used at Sites of Grace to increase your Scadutree Blessing, which grants you a massive boost to both damage dealt and damage negated while in the Land of Shadow. Prioritize finding these fragments. Trying to fight bosses without a sufficient blessing level is a recipe for frustration.
